Pursuant to section 89 of the Fisheries Act 1983 and section 297 of the Fisheries Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title
2 Commencement
  • These regulations come into force on 1 October 2000.

3 Purchase invoices
  • Regulation 13(3) of the principal regulations is amended by adding the following paragraph:

    • (i) in relation to any freshwater eel subject to the quota management system, separate greenweight entries for long-finned eels and short-finned eels respectively, using the codes specified in table 11 of Part I of the Second Schedule of the Fisheries (Reporting) Regulations (SR 1990/214).

4 Offences
  • Regulation 28(1)(ba) of the principal regulations is revoked.

Marie Shroff,

Clerk of the Executive Council.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 October 2000, amend the Fisheries (Recordkeeping) Regulations 1990 by—

  • (a) requiring licensed fish receivers, when giving purchase invoices, to provide separate greenweight entries for long-finned and short-finned eels that are subject to the quota management system; and

  • (b) revoking regulation 28(1)(ba). (The offence contained in that provision is now redundant, in that it refers to failure to comply with a notice of a kind that is no longer given under the regulations.)

Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.

Date of notification in Gazette: 17 August 2000.
