This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings Part 2 of the Animal Products Act 1999 into force on 20 November 2000. That Part requires the persons specified in section 13 of the Act to develop and operate under a registered risk management programme in respect of their production or processing of animal material or product.
The requirement to operate under a registered risk management programme will apply to all businesses that first commence operations as an animal product business on or after 20 November 2000. Existing businesses (within the meaning of section 4 of the Animal Products (Ancillary and Transitional Provisions) Act 1999) will, under Part 3 of that Act, have up until 1 November 2002 to develop a risk management programme and get it registered.
