These regulations are administered in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Pursuant to section 65 of the Animal Remedies Act 1967, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title
  • (1) These regulations are the Animal Remedies Amendment Regulations 2001.

    (2) In these regulations, the Animal Remedies Regulations 19801 are called the principal regulations.

2 Commencement
  • These regulations come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.

3 Revocations
  • Regulation 36 and Schedule 2 of the principal regulations are revoked.

Marie Shroff,

Clerk of the Executive Council.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette, revoke regulation 36 and Schedule 2 of the Animal Remedies Regulations 1980.

Regulation 36 currently provides for restrictions on the supply and use of the animal remedies listed in Schedule 2, which sets out various restrictions for each animal remedy. With the rapidly changing pace of developments in relation to animal remedies, these restrictions are more appropriately catered for by the imposition, under sections 22 and 22A of the Animal Remedies Act 1967, of specific conditions on the animal remedy licences for each trade name product that contains the substances of concern.

Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.

Date of notification in Gazette: 1 March 2001.
