Antarctic Marine Living Resources Amendment Act Commencement Order 2001

Note

This order is administered in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

PURSUANT to section 1(2) of the Antarctic Marine Living Resources Amendment Act 1999, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

1 Title
  • This order is the Antarctic Marine Living Resources Amendment Act Commencement Order 2001.

Diane Wilderspin,

Acting for Clerk of the Executive Council

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings the Antarctic Marine Living Resources Amendment Act 1999 into force on 1 May 2001. The Act repeals the provisions of the Antarctic Marine Living Resources Amendment Act 1981 relating to the appointment of inspectors of sea fishing and provides instead that inspectors will be high seas fishery inspectors by virtue of section 113Q of Part 6A of the Fisheries Act 1996. The Act also substitutes references to the Fisheries Act 1996 for references to the Fisheries Act 1908.

The amendments will be brought into force at the same time as Part 6A of the Fisheries Act 1996, which relates to high seas fishing.

Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.

Date of notification in Gazette: 22 March 2001.
