Pursuant to section 2 of the Local Electoral Act 2001, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
This order is the Local Electoral Act Commencement Order 2001.
The Local Electoral Act 2001 (except section 135) comes into force on 1 July 2001.

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings the Local Electoral Act 2001 into force on 1 July 2001, with the exception of the section that provides for the offence of unauthorised expenditure.
The Local Electoral Act 2001 governs the conduct of local elections and polls.
