Fisheries (Satellite Vessel Monitoring) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2001


Note

These regulations are administered in the Ministry of Fisheries.


Pursuant to section 297 of the Fisheries Act 1996, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

  • These regulations come into force on 21 December 2001.

3 Vessels required to carry and operate automatic location communicators
  • (1) Regulation 3(1)(a) of the principal regulations is amended by inserting, after the words vessels, the words excluding foreign licensed fishing vessels used to fish for tuna.

    (2) Regulation 3(1) of the principal regulations is amended by inserting, after paragraph (f), the following paragraph:

    • (fa) foreign licensed fishing vessels used to fish for tuna specified by the chief executive by notice in the Gazette given for the purposes of this regulation; and.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 21 December 2001, amend the Fisheries (Satellite Vessel Monitoring) Regulations 1993. The amendment allows the Ministry of Fisheries to require foreign licensed fishing vessels used to fish for tuna to operate and carry a particular automatic location communicator specified by the chief executive.
