These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.


Pursuant to section 114 and 115 of the Patents Act 1953, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title
2 Commencement
  • These regulations come into force on 1 January 2002.

3 English translation of documents as required
  • (1) Regulation 3(1) of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the expression subclauses (2) to (5), and substituting the expression subclauses (2) to (4).

    (2) Regulation 3 of the principal Act is amended by revoking subclauses (4) and (5), and substituting the following subclause:

    • (4) An application for extension of time must be made in writing.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 January 2002, remove the fee for the filing of an extension of time under regulation 3, which relates to the translation of documents into English.
