This order comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
The order revokes the emblem
“The Stylised New Zealand Commonwealth Games Emblem” in Part 1 of Schedule 2A of the Flags, Emblems, and Names Protection Act 1981 (the Act), and substitutes the emblem
“The New Zealand Commonwealth Games Emblem”.
The order also revokes the now-expired clauses of Part 3 of Schedule 2A of the Act that protect words and expressions relating to the Sydney Olympic Games, and substitutes a new Part 3. The new Part 3 lists the words and expressions relating to the Olympic and Commonwealth Games to be held at Salt Lake City, Manchester, and Athens that are protected under the Act.
The substituted clauses of Part 3 of Schedule 2A of the Act expire on 30 June 2005.
