Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice, which takes effect from 14 March 2002, is made under the Penal Institutions Act 1954. It declares the land described in the Schedule to be a police jail, to be known as Peel Street (Gisborne) Police Jail. The land is at Peel Street in Gisborne. It is used for the purposes of, and has on it 1 or more buildings known as, the Gisborne Police Station.

This notice revokes a clause in a previous notice that declared both the Gisborne and the Chatham Islands police stations to be police jails. A new clause is substituted that omits the reference to the Gisborne Police Station.

Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.
