Fisheries (Central Area Commercial Fishing) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2002

These regulations are administered in the Ministry of Fisheries.


Pursuant to section 297 of the Fisheries Act 1996, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

2 Commencement
  • These regulations come into force on 31 August 2002.

3 Closed season for rock lobster
  • (1) Regulation 14J(1) of the principal regulations is amended—

    • (a) by omitting from paragraph (a) the word ; or ; and

    • (b) by revoking paragraphs (b) and (c).

    (2) Regulation 14J of the principal regulations is amended by revoking subclauses (5) to (8).

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 31 August 2002, amend the Fisheries (Central Area Commercial Fishing) Regulations 1986.

The effect of the amendments is to remove the prohibitions on commercial fishing, in quota management area 3, of—

  • rock lobster during the period 1 September to 31 January; and

  • female spiny rock lobster during the period 1 June to 31 August.
