This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations which come into force on 1 October 2002, amend the Fisheries (South-East Area Commercial Fishing) Regulations 2002. The amendments are needed to accommodate the inclusion of various species in the quota management system.
Regulation 3 inserts new regulation 2C, which prohibits commercial trawling for queen scallops with a net mesh less than 50 mm.
Regulation 4 is a minor correction.
Regulation 5 revokes the commercial catch limit for kina.
Regulation 6 revokes the commercial catch limit for queen scallop.
Regulation 7 revokes the commercial catch limit for paddle crab and butterfish.
Regulation 8 removes a fishing method restriction for paddle crab.
Regulation 9 adjusts the offences to reflect the earlier changes.
