Pursuant to section 150 of the Immigration Act 1987, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title
  • (1) These regulations are the Immigration Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2002.

    (2) In these regulations, the Immigration Regulations 1999 SR 1999/284 are called the principal regulations.

2 Commencement
  • (1) [Revoked]

    (2) The rest of these regulations come into force on 1 January 2003.

    Subclause (1) was revoked, as from 21 February 2003, by regulation 5 Immigration Amendment Regulations 2003 (SR 2003/13).

3 Persons exempt from requirement to obtain temporary visa
  • Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the principal regulations is amended by inserting in clause B.1(b)(ii), in its appropriate alphabetical order, the item Czech Republic.

4 Fees
  • Regulation 4 was revoked, as from 21 February 2003, by regulation 5 Immigration Amendment Regulations 2003 (SR 2003/13).

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations amend the Immigration Regulations 1999 to—

  • include citizens of the Czech Republic in the list of persons who are exempt from the requirement to obtain a temporary visa for visits to New Zealand not exceeding 3 months, with effect from 1 January 2003; and

  • increase by $40 the various fees payable on application for a visa for study purposes, with effect from 24 March 2003.
