Fisheries (Commercial Fishing) Amendment Regulations 2003


These regulations are administered in the Ministry of Fisheries.

Pursuant to section 297 of the Fisheries Act 1996, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

  • These regulations come into force on 31 March 2003.

3 Penalties
  • Regulation 85(4) of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the words A commercial fisher, and substituting the words Any person.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 31 March 2003, amend the Fisheries (Commercial Fishing) Regulations 2001 by providing that the penalty provided for in regulation 85(4) applies not just to a commercial fisher, but to any person who commits an offence against a regulation listed in regulation 84(3) (which provides for offences by any persons).
