Misuse of Drugs (Changes to Controlled Drugs) Order Commencement Order 2003

Pursuant to section 4A(1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 and a resolution of the House of Representatives made on 13 May 2003 in accordance with section 4A(3) of that Act, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings the Misuse of Drugs (Changes to Controlled Drugs) Order 2003 into force on 30 May 2003. The changes to be made by that order include the reclassification of methamphetamine as a class A drug. The order requires the approval of the House of Representatives. The House of Representatives approved the order on 13 May 2003.
