Extradition Amendment Act Commencement Order 2003


Note

This order is administered in the Ministry of Justice.


Pursuant to section 2(2) of the Extradition Amendment Act 2002, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

1 Title
  • This order is the Extradition Amendment Act Commencement Order 2003.

2 Commencement of provisions implementing TOC Convention
3 Commencement of provisions implementing migrants protocol and trafficking protocol

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, for certain purposes, sections 5 and 6 of the Extradition Amendment Act 2002.

Those sections, so far as they implement the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime (the TOC convention), come into force on 29 September 2003.

Those sections, so far as they implement the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants, by Land, Sea and Air (the migrants protocol) and so far as they implement the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking of Persons, especially Women and Children (the trafficking protocol), come into force on 1 January 2004.
