Maritime Transport Act Commencement Order 2003


Note

This order is administered in the Ministry of Transport.


Pursuant to section 214 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

  • This order is the Maritime Transport Act Commencement Order 2003.

2 Commencement of sections 215 to 220 and Schedule 6 of Maritime Transport Act 1994

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, beat is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into effect, on 16 October 2003, sections 215 to 220 and the Schedule 6 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

Sections 215 to 220 relate to salvage. In particular, section 216 provides that the International Convention on Salvage 1989 (which is set out in the Schedule 6 of the Act) has the force of law in New Zealand.
