Terrorism Suppression Amendment Act 2003 Commencement Order 2003

Pursuant to section 2(1) of the Terrorism Suppression Amendment Act 2003, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

1 Title
  • This order is the Terrorism Suppression Amendment Act 2003 Commencement Order 2003.

2 Commencement
  • This order comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

3 Commencement of certain provisions of Terrorism Suppression Amendment Act 2003

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings certain provisions of the Terrorism Suppression Amendment Act 2003 into force.

Section 8 (which inserts into the principal Act a new section 29A enabling the designation of entities to be modified, so as to reflect a new or more appropriate name) comes into force on 17 November 2003.

The following provisions come into force on 12 December 2003:

  • section 9 (which inserts into the principal Act new sections 47A to 47G giving Customs officers power to seize and detain goods suspected to be terrorist property):

  • section 14 (which effects an amendment made necessary by the enactment of one of those sections).
