Fisheries (Western and Central Pacific Ocean Highly Migratory Fish Stocks) Amendment Regulations 2004

Pursuant to section 297(1)(o) of the Fisheries Act 1996, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title
2 Commencement
  • These regulations come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.

3 Application
  • Regulation 3(a) of the principal regulations is amended by inserting, after the word area, the words outside New Zealand fisheries waters.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette, amend the Fisheries (Western and Central Pacific Ocean Highly Migratory Fish Stocks) Regulations 2003. The amendment ensures that the regulations apply in respect of New Zealand flagged vessels fishing for highly migratory fish stocks managed under the Convention in the Convention area outside New Zealand fisheries waters.
