Pursuant to section 150 of the Immigration Act 1987, Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title
  • (1) These regulations are the Immigration Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2004.

    (2) In these regulations,. the Immigration Regulations 19991 are called the principal regulations.

2 Commencement
  • (1) Regulation 3 comes into force on the day after the date on which these regulations are notified in the Gazette.

    (2) The rest of these regulations come into force on 1 September 2004.

3 Schedule 1 amended
  • Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the principal regulations is amended by omitting from clause B.1(b)(ii) the item Israel, and substituting the item Israel (other than persons travelling to New Zealand in any official Israeli Government capacity).

4 Schedule 3 amended
  • Item 1(e) of Part 1 of Schedule 3 of the principal regulations is amended by inserting in column A the expression 600.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations amend the Immigration Regulations 1999 to—

  • remove citizens of Israel travelling to New Zealand in an official government capacity from the exemption from the requirement to obtain a temporary visa, with effect on and after the day following the Date of notification of the regulations in the Gazette:

  • set a fee for applications made in New Zealand for residence under the Samoan quota category of residence policy, with effect on and after 1 September 2004.
