Mercenary Activities (Prohibition) Act Commencement Order 2004


This order is administered in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Pursuant to section 2 of the Mercenary Activities (Prohibition) Act 2004, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings the Mercenary Activities (Prohibition) Act 2004 into force on 22 October 2004. That date is the date on which the International Convention against the Recruitment, Use, Financing and Training of Mercenaries (which is implemented in New Zealand law by the Mercenary Activities (Prohibition) Act 2004) enters into force for New Zealand.
