Misuse of Drugs (Classification of Ephedrine and Pseudoephedrine) Order Commencement Order 2004

Pursuant to section 4A(1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 and a resolution of the House of Representatives made on 2 March 2004 in accordance with section 4A(3) of that Act, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings the Misuse of Drugs (Classification of Ephedrine and Pseudoephedrine) Order 2003 into force on 15 October 2004. That order amends Schedule 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 in order to classify ephedrine and pseudoephedrine as Class C controlled drugs. The order requires the approval of the House of Representatives before it comes into force. The House of Representatives approved the order on 2 March 2004.
