Fisheries (Beach Cast Seaweed Area Prohibition) Amendment Notice 2004

This notice is administered in the Ministry of Fisheries.

Pursuant to section 11(4)(b)(i) of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries gives the following notice.

(1) This notice is the Fisheries (Beach Cast Seaweed Area Prohibition) Amendment Notice 2004.
(2) In this notice, the Fisheries (Beach Cast Seaweed Area Prohibition) Notice 2002¹ is called “the principal notice”.

The table in clause 4 of the principal notice is amended by omitting from the item relating to FMA 9 the words “Tauroa Point (approximately 35°10.0'S and 173°03.7'E)”, and substituting the words “a point located at the northern end of Kahokawa Beach (at 34°31.6'S and 172°43.5'E)”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice, which comes into force on 1 October 2004, amends the Fisheries (Beach Cast Seaweed Area Prohibition) Notice 2002 to allow commercial fishers to take beach cast seaweed from Ninety Mile Beach.
