Pursuant to section 11(4)(b)(i) of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries gives the following notice.

  • This notice comes into force on 1 October 2004.

3 Prohibition on taking beach cast seaweed from coastal areas
  • The table in clause 4 of the principal notice is amended by omitting from the item relating to FMA 9 the words Tauroa Point (approximately 35°10.0'S and 173°03.7'E), and substituting the words a point located at the northern end of Kahokawa Beach (at 34°31.6'S and 172°43.5'E).

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice, which comes into force on 1 October 2004, amends the Fisheries (Beach Cast Seaweed Area Prohibition) Notice 2002 to allow commercial fishers to take beach cast seaweed from Ninety Mile Beach.
