Pursuant to the Health Act 1956, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, by this order, which comes into force on 1 May 2005, revokes the Fumigation Regulations 1967 (SR 1967/219).

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 May 2005, revokes the Fumigation Regulations 1967.

The substances controlled by those regulations became subject to the controls in the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (the HSNO Act) on 1 November 2004 pursuant to a notice in the Supplement to the Gazette of 29 October 2004. That notice established a transitional period of 6 months, during which time persons had the option to comply with either the controls set out in the Fumigation Regulations 1967 or the new controls under the HSNO Act. That 6 month transition period expires at the close of 30 April 2005, from which time all persons must comply with the controls set out in the HSNO Act.
