Tariff (Less Developed Countries and Least Developed Countries) Amendment Order 2005

This order is administered in the Ministry of Economic Development.


Pursuant to section 7 of the Tariff Act 1988, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

2 Commencement
  • This order comes into force on 1 November 2005.

3 Cayman Islands ceases to be less developed country
  • Cayman Islands ceases to be a less developed country for the purposes of the Tariff Act 1988.

4 Schedule 1 amended
  • Schedule 1 of the principal order is amended by omitting the item Cayman Islands.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

Under this order, which comes into force on 1 November 2005, Cayman Islands ceases to be a less developed country for the purposes of the Tariff Act 1988. From 1 November 2005, exports from Cayman Islands to New Zealand will no longer qualify for the less developed country (LDC) tariff preference.
