This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 1 April 2007, amends the War Pensions Act 1954 in 2 ways.
First, it increases the following war pensions, lump sum payments, and allowances in accordance with an increase of 2.63% in the All Groups Consumers Price Index (CPI):
•the maximum rate of a disablement pension:
•the maximum rate of an additional pension for severe disablement:
•the maximum rate of allowance for the services of attendants for disabled pensioners:
•the maximum rate of surviving spouses' or surviving partners' pensions:
•the maximum rate of additional parents' allowances payable to a surviving spouse or surviving partner:
•the maximum rate of children's pensions in ordinary cases:
•the maximum rate of war orphans' pensions:
•the maximum rates of veterans' pensions:
•the maximum payments on death of a veteran or a veteran's spouse or civil union partner.
Clause 3 and Schedule 1 increase the rates of veterans' pensions both to reflect changes in the CPI and to meet the requirements in section 74C of the War Pensions Act 1954 (which relates to the annual adjustment of the rates of veterans' pensions).
Secondly, the order (in clause 4 and Schedule 2) makes some additional increases to figures already increased by clause 3 and Schedule 1, to implement the Government's commitments in relation to the level of veterans' pensions.
