Pursuant to section 23(1) of the Social Security (Personal Development and Employment) Amendment Act 2002, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force on 30 April 2007 section 23(2) of the Social Security (Personal Development and Employment) Amendment Act 2002. The effect is to repeal subsections (1E) and (1F) of section 86 of the Social Security Act 1964. Those subsections provide for limited debt recovery suspension for sole parents whose benefits are suspended or cancelled when they enter employment. Their repeal coincides with the commencement of replacement provisions for similar purposes in the Social Security (Debt Recovery Suspension) Regulations 2007.
