  • Preamble

    At Wellington this 27th day of August 2007

Pursuant to section 297 of the Fisheries Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title
  • These regulations are the Fisheries (South-East Area Amateur Fishing) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2007.

2 Commencement
  • These regulations come into force on 1 October 2007.

3 Principal regulations amended
  • These regulations amend the Fisheries (South-East Area Amateur Fishing) Regulations 1986.

4 New regulation 3E inserted
  • The following regulation is inserted after regulation 3D:

    3E Unattended set nets in East Otago taiapure
    • (1) A person using a set net in East Otago taiapure must, at all times, remain in the immediate vicinity of the set net.

      (2) In this regulation, East Otago taiapure means the area described in the Schedule to the Fisheries (East Otago Taiapure) Order 1999.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 October 2007, amend the Fisheries (South-East Area Amateur Fishing) Regulations 1986 by inserting new regulation 3E, which provides that a person using a set net in East Otago taiapure must, at all times, remain in the immediate vicinity of the set net. A person who contravenes or fails to comply with the new regulation commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000.
