This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 1 October 2007, amend the Fisheries (South-East Area Commercial Fishing) Regulations 1986, by—
•inserting new regulation 3F, which provides that a commercial fisher who uses a set net in the area of East Otago taiapure must, at all times, remain in the immediate vicinity of the set net. Regulation 12 is consequentially amended to provide that a commercial fisher who contravenes or fails to comply with the new requirement commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $20,000:
•changing co-ordinates in regulation 4C(2)(d) (which relates to the prohibition on trawling in fisheries management area 4).
