Explanatory note

This note is not part of the rules, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These rules, which come into force on 28 October 2007, amend the Lotto Rules 2000. The amendments implement changes that will have the effect of increasing the starting jackpot for week 1 of the current jackpot cycle for lotto powerball.

Specifically, these rules—

  • change the lotto powerball selection from a group of numbers between 1 and 8 numbers (inclusive) to 1 and 10 numbers (inclusive):

  • re-adjust the allocation of the prize pool for the lotto powerball prize divisions:

  • increase from 3% to 5% the maximum percentage amount that may be set aside from out of the prize pool for each game of lotto powerball and that is to be paid into the prize reserve fund from ticket sales for the game:

  • make other technical changes to the rules.
