Pursuant to section 2(1) of the Geographical Indications (Wine and Spirits) Registration Act 2006, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

  • This order is the Geographical Indications Act 1994 Repeal Order 2008.

2 Appointment of date for repeal of Geographical Indications Act 1994
  • Section 62 of the Geographical Indications (Wine and Spirits) Registration Act 2006 comes into force on 14 April 2008.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, on 14 April 2008, section 62 of the Geographical Indications (Wine and Spirits) Registration Act 2006 (the 2006 Act). Section 62 repeals the Geographical Indications Act 1994 (which itself has never been brought into force). This order applies to section 62 of the 2006 Act only; the remainder of the 2006 Act has yet to be brought into force.
