These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Social Development.

Pursuant to section 132AC of the Social Security Act 1964, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

Regulations

1 Title

These regulations are the Social Security (Childcare Assistance) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2008.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on 1 December 2008.

3 Principal regulations amended
4 Interpretation

(1)

Paragraph (a) of the definition of approved early-childhood care arranger in regulation 3(1) is amended by inserting “or a licensed home-based education and care service” after “arranger”.

(2)

Paragraph (a)(i) of the definition of approved early-childhood education service in regulation 3(1) is amended by inserting “or an early childhood education and care service licensed under the Education (Early Childhood Services) Regulations 2008” after “Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1998”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 December 2008, amend the Social Security (Childcare Assistance) Regulations 2004 to make consequential changes required on the commencement of new Part 26 of the Education Act 1989 inserted by the Education Amendment Act 2006 (which will come into force on 1 December 2008).
