Clerk of the Executive Council.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, on 1 November 2008, the Human Tissue Act 2008, except sections 1, 2, 87, 88, 89, and the heading above section 87. The Human Tissue Act 2008 regulates the collection and use of human tissue and repeals the Human Tissue Act 1964 and Part 3A of the Health Act 1956.

Sections 1, 2, and 89 are already in force, having come into force on the day after the date on which the Act received the Royal assent. Sections 87 and 88, which repeal organ donor provisions in driver licensing legislation, and the heading above section 87, will be brought into force on a date or dates to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council.

Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.

Date of notification in Gazette: 18 September 2008.

This order is administered by the Ministry of Health.
