Pursuant to section 8 of the Major Events Management Act 2007, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, and on the recommendation of the Minister for Economic Development, makes the following order.

Order

1 Title
  • This order is the Major Event Emblems and Words (FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008) Order 2008.

2 Commencement
  • This order comes into force on 23 October 2008.

3 Interpretation
  • In this order, FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008 means the event that was declared to be a major event by the Major Events Management (FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008) Order 2008.

4 Identification of major event and declaration of protection period
  • (1) The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008 is the relevant major event for the purposes of this order.

    (2) The protection period for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008 is declared to start on 23 October 2008 and end on 15 December 2008.

5 Declaration of major event emblems and words
  • (1) The emblems set out in Schedule 1 are declared to be major event emblems for the protection period of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008.

    (2) The words set out in Schedule 2 are declared to be major event words for the protection period of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008 was declared to be a major event for the purposes of the Major Events Management Act 2007 by the Major Events Management (FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008) Order 2008.

This order, which comes into force on 23 October 2008,—

  • declares the protection period for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008; and

  • declares specified emblems to be major event emblems for the protection period of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008; and

  • declares specified words to be major event words for the protection period of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008.

Under subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Major Events Management Act 2007, certain protections are provided for major event emblems and major event words during the protection period of the relevant major event.
