This memorandum is not part of the determination, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This determination amends the Local Government Elected Members (2008/09) Determination 2008. Although the determination comes into force only on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette, the amendments all have retrospective effect.
The reasons for the amendments are as follows:

| 4(4) | Tauranga City Council | A change in the car provided for the Mayor |
| 4(5) | Waitakere City Council | A change in the car provided for the Mayor |
| 4(6) | Whangarei District Council | A change to reflect the new council committee structure adopted with effect from 27 August 2008 |
