Fisheries (Kaipara Harbour Temporary Closure) Notice 2008

Pursuant to section 186A of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries gives the following notice.

Notice

1 Title
  • This notice is the Fisheries (Kaipara Harbour Temporary Closure) Notice 2008.

2 Commencement
  • This notice comes into force on 28 November 2008.

3 Expiry
  • This notice expires with the close of 27 November 2009.

4 Kaipara Harbour closed for taking scallops
  • (1) No person may take scallops from Kaipara Harbour while this notice is in force.

    (2) In subclause (1), Kaipara Harbour means that area of the New Zealand fisheries waters that lies within Kaipara Harbour, the entrance to which is defined by a straight line drawn from the southernmost extremity of North Head (at 36°23.81′S and 174°03.92′E) to South Head (at 36°28.06′S and 174°09.73′E).

    (3) To avoid doubt, the geographical co-ordinates in subclause (2) are in terms of WGS84 datum.

5 Revocation

This notice imposes a ban on the taking of scallops from Kaipara Harbour from 28 November 2008 to the close of 27 November 2009.
