Fisheries (Rock Lobster Total Allowable Commercial Catches) Amendment Notice 2009

Pursuant to section 20 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries, after having regard to the matters specified in section 21 of that Act, gives the following notice.

1 Title
  • This notice is the Fisheries (Rock Lobster Total Allowable Commercial Catches) Amendment Notice 2009.

2 Commencement
  • This notice comes into force on 31 March 2009.

3 Application
  • This notice applies on and from the fishing year commencing on 1 April 2009.

4 Principal notice amended
5 Schedule amended
  • The fourth column of the Schedule is amended by—

    • (a) omitting 190.000 and substituting 164.000; and

    • (b) omitting 576.000 and substituting 266.000; and

    • (c) omitting 123.880 and substituting 189.000; and

    • (d) omitting 966.000 and substituting 1 019.000.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice, which comes into force on 31 March 2009, amends the Fisheries (Rock Lobster Total Allowable Commercial Catches) Notice 1999.

The amendments decrease the total allowable catch for spiny rock lobster for—

  • the Gisborne quota management area (CRA 3) to 164.000 tonnes; and

  • the Wellington/Hawkes Bay quota management area (CRA 4) to 266.000 tonnes.

The amendments increase the total allowable catch for spiny rock lobster for—

  • the Otago quota management area (CRA 7) to 189.000 tonnes; and

  • the Southern quota management area (CRA 8) to 1 019.000 tonnes.

The amendments apply on and from the fishing year commencing on 1 April 2009.
