Pursuant to section 2 of the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Amendment Act 2008, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, on 18 May 2009, the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Amendment Act 2008 (the amendment Act).

The amendment Act amends the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992 (the principal Act) to provide that sections 11B to 11D of the Family Courts Act 1980 apply to the publication of a report of any proceedings under the principal Act in any court.
