These regulations, which come into force the day after notification in the Gazette, add non-seasonal influenza capable of being transmitted between human beings to the list of infectious diseases in Schedule 2 of the Health (Infectious and Notifiable Diseases) Regulations 1966.
Every person who has, or has had, the disease will now be required not to leave his or her home (without the permission of the Medical Officer of Health) until the earlier of—
the day that is 7 days after the day of the onset of the disease:
the day on which all the symptoms of the disease have subsided.
A period of exclusion from school of 7 days is also prescribed in relation to any pupil or teacher who has, or has had, the disease.
And a period of 7 days is prescribed (for the purposes of the Health Act 1956) as the incubation period of the disease.
