Pursuant to section 297 of the Fisheries Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

Regulations

1 Title
  • These regulations are the Fisheries (South-East Area Commercial Fishing) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2009.

2 Commencement
  • These regulations come into force on 1 October 2009.

3 Principal regulations amended
4 Closed season for rock lobster
  • Regulation 8 is amended by omitting 20th day of June and substituting 31st day of May.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations amend the Fisheries (South-East Area Commercial Fishing) Regulations 1986. The amendment shortens the closed season for commercial fishing of rock lobster in the Otago Concession Area. The closed season starts on 20 November and now ends on 31 May in the next year (both days inclusive). The closed season previously ended on 20 June (20 days later).

These regulations come into force on 1 October 2009.
