Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, on 1 January 2010, the Customs and Excise (AANZFTA) Amendment Act 2009.

The Customs and Excise (AANZFTA) Amendment Act 2009 amends the Customs and Excise Act 1996 to implement a free trade agreement, namely the ASEAN–Australia–New Zealand Free Trade Area agreement (the AANZFTA). The amendments create a system for certification bodies that are authorised to issue the necessary certificates of origin for goods exported to AANZFTA party countries.

Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.

Date of notification in Gazette: 26 November 2009.

This order is administered by the New Zealand Customs Service.
