His Excellency the Governor-General in Council

Pursuant to section 9 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council and on the recommendation of the Minister of Health made after consultation in accordance with section 9(2) of that Act, makes the following order.

4 Schedule amended

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 15 January 2010, revokes clause 5 of the Schedule of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (Restricted Activities) Order 2005.

The effect of revoking this clause is that performing a psychosocial intervention with an expectation of treating a serious mental illness without the approval of a registered health practitioner is no longer a restricted activity in terms of section 9 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003.

Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.

Date of notification in Gazette: 17 December 2009.

This order is administered by the Ministry of Health.
