Pursuant to sections 40A, 118, 286, and 287 of the Customs and Excise Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

Regulations

1 Title
  • These regulations are the Customs and Excise (Revenue Collection Threshold) Amendment Regulations 2010.

2 Commencement
  • These regulations come into force on 1 October 2010.

3 Principal regulations amended
4 Inward cargo transaction fee
5 Import entry transaction fee
6 Minimum amount of duty collectable
  • Regulation 70 is amended by omitting $50 in each place where it appears and substituting in each case $60.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 October 2010, amend the Customs and Excise Regulations 1996. The regulations increase the threshold below which duty need not be collected by the New Zealand Customs Service, known as the “de minimis amount”, from $50 to $60. The regulations make consequential amendments to other amounts in the principal regulations.
