Bullseye Amendment Rules 2010

Pursuant to section 243 of the Gambling Act 2003, the Minister of Internal Affairs approves the following rules, which were made by the New Zealand Lotteries Commission on 25 August 2010.

Rules

1 Title
  • These rules are the Bullseye Amendment Rules 2010.

2 Commencement
  • These rules come into force on 3 October 2010.

3 Principal rules amended
4 Interpretation
  • (1) Rule 4 is amended by revoking the definition of maximum number of games and substituting the following definition:

    maximum number of games means the maximum number of consecutive games determined by the Commission under rule 22(1)(a)(ii).

    (2) Rule 4 is amended by revoking the definition of threshold amount and substituting the following definition:

    threshold amount means the amount determined by the Commission under rule 22(1)(a)(i).

5 General provisions relating to jackpots
  • Rule 22(1) is amended by revoking paragraph (a) and substituting the following paragraph:

    • (a) must determine—

      • (i) the maximum amount of the allocation of the prize pool for division 1 (the threshold amount); and

      • (ii) the maximum number of consecutive games for which a jackpot may occur (the maximum number of games):.

6 New rule 23 substituted
  • Rule 23 is revoked and the following rule substituted:

    23 Jackpots for division 1 prize pool
    • (1) This rule applies if, as a result of any drawing, there is no division 1 winning selection for a game.

      (2) The portion of the available prize pool for the game that was allocated to division 1 in that drawing must be added, subject to the restrictions in subclause (3), to the division 1 allocation for the next game (jackpot).

      (3) A jackpot may not occur—

      • (a) if, as at the conclusion of the drawing referred to in subclause (1), the jackpot would result in the total of the division 1 allocation in the next game exceeding the threshold amount; or

      • (b) for more than the maximum number of games.

      (4) If a jackpot may not occur because of subclause (3), the division 1 allocation must be added to the prize pool allocation for the next lowest prize division with 1 or more winning selections.

7 Reallocation of division 1 jackpot to division 2
  • Rule 26(1) is amended by revoking paragraph (a) and substituting the following paragraph:

    • (a) rule 23(2) or 24 applies; and.

This note is not part of the rules, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These rules, which amend the Bullseye Rules 2009 and come into force on 3 October 2010, clarify when a jackpot for the division 1 prize pool may occur.
