His Excellency the Governor-General in Council

Pursuant to section 72(7) of the Fisheries Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council and on the recommendation of the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, makes the following order.


1 Title
  • This order is the Fisheries (Schedule 6) Order 2010.

2 Commencement
  • This order comes into force on 16 December 2010.

3 Schedule 6 of Fisheries Act 1996 amended
  • Schedule 6 of the Fisheries Act 1996 is amended by inserting the item set out in the Schedule of this order in its appropriate alphabetical order.

Stock Area Requirements
Kina (Evechinus chloroticus) 

All New Zealand fisheries waters


A commercial fisher may return kina to the waters from which it was taken if the kina—

  • (a) is taken by hand-gathering; and

  • (b) is likely to survive on return.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 16 December 2010, amends Schedule 6 of the Fisheries Act 1996.

The amendment inserts a reference to kina into Schedule 6.
