This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 1 July 2011, adjusts the amount set out in section 206C(1)(a) of the Electoral Act 1993 from $1,032,000 to $1,065,000.
reflects the movement between the CPI for the quarter ending 30 September 2010 and the CPI for the quarter ending 31 March 2011 (3.15%); and
rounds up the adjusted amount ($1,064,508) to the next whole thousand dollars in accordance with section 266A(5) of the Electoral Act 1993.
The effect of this adjustment is that if a party is listed in the party vote part of the ballot paper issued for a general election, the total amount of election expenses that the party may incur in respect of a regulated period is increased by $33,000.
