This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations amend the Defence Regulations 1990. The amendment comes into force on the 28th day after the regulations are notified in the Gazette.

The amendment revokes a provision prohibiting the Chief of Defence Force from paying compensation for any loss of or damage to the service kit or personal effects of a member of the Armed Forces in certain circumstances. The amendment enables the Chief of Defence Force, at his or her discretion and in accordance with the regulations, to replace an item or to pay compensation or reimbursement for it.
