Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 2 July 2012, amend the Immigration (Visa, Entry Permission, and Related Matters) Regulations 2010 (the principal regulations). The amendments—

  • refine the definition of dependent child to include, in the case of an application for a residence class visa or a variation of travel conditions in respect of a resident visa, a child who is financially independent, is at least 18 years old but less than 21 years old, is single, and has no children; and

  • replace Schedule 4.

New Schedule 4 sets out the fees payable for matters to which the principal regulations apply.
