2 Commencement
  • This order comes into force on 14 December 2012.

Order: validated and confirmed, on 18 December 2013, by section 13(a) of the Subordinate Legislation (Confirmation and Validation) Act 2013 (2013 No 142).

3 Date from which order to have effect

  • In Schedule 26 of the Social Security Act 1964, clause 2, replace 134.64 with 136.64.

Michael Webster,
for Clerk of the Executive Council.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 14 December 2012, increases the rate of a young parent payment for a single young person who—

  • is aged 16 to 17 years; and

  • is living with or being financially supported by a parent or guardian; and

  • has a dependent child or children.

The rate was previously incorrectly stated to be $134.64 and this order increases the rate to $136.64, which is the correct amount.

The increase applies, in accordance with section 61H(2) of the Social Security Act 1964, in respect of a young parent payment payable on or after 14 December 2012.

Under section 61H(3) of the Social Security Act 1964, this order expires on the close of the period of 12 months commencing with the date on which it was laid before the House of Representatives, unless it is expressly validated and confirmed by an Act of Parliament before that date.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.

Date of notification in Gazette: 20 December 2012.
