Pursuant to section 2(1) of the Electronic Identity Verification Act 2012, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

  • This order is the Electronic Identity Verification Act Commencement Order 2013.

2 Commencement of Parts 2 and 3 (except sections 67 to 72) and Schedules 1 and 2 of Electronic Identity Verification Act 2012

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings Parts 2 and 3 (except sections 67 to 72) and Schedules 1 and 2 of the Electronic Identity Verification Act 2012 (the Act) into force on 2 April 2013. The rest of the Act came into force on 19 December 2012 pursuant to section 2(3) of the Act.

The purpose of the Act is to facilitate secure interactions (particularly online interactions) between individuals on the one hand and participating agencies on the other.
