This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 1 July 2013, amend the Climate Change (Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Levies) Regulations 2013 by inserting a further exemption to the requirement to pay the levy imposed by section 227 of the Climate Change Response Act 2002.
The new exemption applies to leviable motor vehicles that are imported into or manufactured in New Zealand before 1 July 2013 and that the Registrar of Motor Vehicles is satisfied are fit for registration before that date, but that are not registered until on or after that date. The exemption is necessary because information as to whether a motor vehicle is leviable (by virtue of having an air-conditioning system containing certain synthetic greenhouses gases) will not be gathered by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles before 1 July 2013.
Date of notification in Gazette: 20 June 2013.
These regulations are administered by the Ministry for the Environment.
